The estimator that knows what the blue flags mean.

BLUE is underground utility estimating software built by pipelayers, not programmers. Bid faster, win more, and protect your margin on every job.

Beta is live. Design partner program open.

  • Bid Form Import → Takeoff → Bid Summary, end-to-end
  • Materials, production rates, crews — all linked, all live
  • Trench profiler, SOV, AIA-style pay requests

“Most estimating software was written by people who’ve never laid a stick of pipe. BLUE was built the other way around.

How a bid actually starts

Enter once. It flows everywhere.

A real bid begins the moment the ITB packet hits your inbox. BLUE picks it up there — and carries it all the way through to the final pay request.

  1. 01

    Bid Form Import

Drop in the bid item numbers and descriptions from the spec book. BLUE seeds the rest of the workbook from this one entry point — type a bid item here and it shows up everywhere else it’s needed.

Bid Form Import — spec book entry, yellow cells are where you type
  2. 02

    Takeoff

Build the estimate — quantities, production rates, materials, adders. Material # auto-fills description, unit, and unit cost from your Materials Database. Production rates pull from your historical numbers, not somebody else’s.

BLUE Takeoff Sheet showing line-item buildup with quantities, production rates, materials, and per-item GPM calculations
Takeoff — line-by-line buildup from the imported bid items
  3. 03

    Bid Summary

Final rolled-up bid with global and per-item GPM, gross profit dollars, extended amounts, and unit price. The number you submit to the GC — with the math behind it intact.

Everything an estimator actually needs

Twenty-nine linked sheets. Unlimited buildup potential.

BLUE replaces the spaghetti pile of spreadsheets, vendor PDFs, and sticky notes most underground contractors run on today. Every sheet is wired to every other sheet so a change in one place updates everywhere it matters.

Materials Database

All material items with unit costs by work type. Type a Material # anywhere in the workbook and the description, unit, and unit cost with tax populate themselves. The Materials Entry Helper makes adding a new pipe size, fitting, or restraint a 30-second job.

BLUE Materials Database with hundreds of pipe, fitting, and restraint items organized by work type with unit costs and tax-inclusive pricing

Production Rates DB

Production rates linking labor, equipment, and output. Build a rate for “8″ sewer 8-10′ depth, open cut” once and use it everywhere. Production Rates Entry Helper for fast additions.

BLUE Production Rates Database showing crew composition, equipment, and units per day for various utility installation tasks

Takeoff Sheet

The build screen. Quantities, production, adders, GPM — all wired back to the rates and materials databases.

BLUE Takeoff Sheet showing line-item buildup with quantities, production rates, materials, and per-item GPM calculations

Markup & Fees

Bond, escalation, contingency, overhead, net profit. One screen controls the levers that turn direct cost into a winning bid.

BLUE Markup and Fees sheet showing bond percentage, escalation, contingency, overhead, and net profit margin controls

Trench Profiler

Distributes pipe footage by cut-class band from your hand takeoff. Rolls up to the Takeoff Sheet by pipe size, material, and cut class so production rates apply by depth.

BLUE Trench Profiler with manual pipe depth entry by station

Adders

Add unlimited extra materials per bid item — restraints, fittings, specialty couplings. They flow through to Bid Summary automatically, fractional quantities and all.

BLUE Takeoff Adders sheet allowing unlimited extra materials to be appended to any bid item with auto-populated descriptions and unit costs

Buildup sheets

Unlimited task-level detail per bid item. Crew days, materials, and production rates roll straight into the Takeoff — no re-keying, no broken links. Bid a pump station or a lump-sum tie-in the same way you bid a stick of pipe.

BLUE Buildup sheet for a Pump Station Complete bid item showing crew days, materials, production rates, and rolled-up total direct unit cost

After award

The job doesn’t end when you win it.

BLUE follows the project past the bid table — into scheduling, billing, change orders, and field production. One workbook, one project, cradle to close-out.

BLUE Schedule of Values showing line-item billing breakdown for monthly pay applications

Schedule of Values

Line-item SOV that drives pay request generation directly from the bid.

BLUE Pay Request sheet formatted in AIA G702/G703 style application for payment with installed-this-period values

Pay Request

AIA G702/G703-style application for payment, populated from the SOV.

BLUE Gantt Chart showing auto-generated project schedule with task bars and dependencies

Gantt Chart

Auto-generated project schedule with manual override.

Pricing

Three tiers. One workbook.

BLUE is in private beta with a small group of design partners. Subscriptions open to the public at general release — early adopters who request a demo now will be first in line.

How BLUE compares to the incumbents:

  • B2W: $8,000–$25,000 per user per year
  • HCSS HeavyBid: $10,000–$30,000 per user per year
  • Estimating Link: $166–$375 per user per month

BLUE is deliberately priced 4–10x below the incumbents. That is the market gap BLUE exists to fill.
